Saskatchewan Provincial Age Class Cross Country Championships.

The Riversdale Athletics Club, in partnership with Prairie Run Crew are pleased to announce the Saskatchewan Provincial Age Class Cross Country Championships. The event is scheduled for Saturday, October 21, 2023, and will take place at Victoria Park in Saskatoon (Spadina Cres, Ave. F South).

Registration and Fees

Interested competitors can register online at Trackie.com. The registration fee is $25.00 per competitor if completed before October 18, 6 p.m. (Saskatchewan Time). Late registrations will be accepted at a cost of $40.00 per competitor.

Event Details and Age Groups

The competition features a rolling schedule, starting with registration at 9:30 a.m. and followed by a course walkthrough at 10:15 a.m. The races will begin at 11:30 a.m., with various categories for different age groups. The course consists of 1 and 2 km loops on all-grass terrain, featuring a few small hills.

Age groups and respective distances are as follows:

  • U12 Girls & Boys (2 km)

  • U14 Girls & Boys (2 km)

  • U16 Women & Men (3 km & 4 km)

  • U18 Women & Men (5 km & 6 km)

  • U20 Women & Men (6 km & 8 km)

  • Masters Men & Women (10 km)

  • Open Women & Men (10 km)

Amenities and Awards

Parking is available across the street from the race site and in lots at Victoria Park, near the rowing/canoe and tennis facilities. Note that bathroom facilities are located 200 meters from the race site. Competitors are advised to bring their own potable water as none will be provided at the event.

Top three finishers in each category—both individual and team—will receive medals. Teams should consist of a minimum of three and a maximum of four competitors. There are no limits to the number of teams a coach can register.

Nationals Funding and Membership

Competitors in the U18, U20, and Senior categories have the opportunity to receive travel funding for the National AC Championships scheduled for November 25 in Ottawa. Winners can receive up to 75% funding, while second to fourth-place finishers in the U18 and U20 categories can receive up to 50% funding.

Runners in the U12, U14, and U16 categories may compete without a Saskatchewan Athletics membership. However, U18, U20, Open, and Masters runners must either be members or purchase a Saskatchewan Athletics Day Pass to compete.
