Riversdale Athletics Club Celebrates the Coaching Career of RossAnn Edwards

SASKATOON, Saskatchewan — Riversdale Athletics Club (RIVA) announces longtime Head Coach, RossAnn Edwards has relocated to BC to be closer to family.

After more than two decades of coaching with Riversdale Athletics Club—including twenty-plus years as Head Coach, Edwards leaves behind a remarkable legacy built on excellence, integrity, inclusion, an unwavering belief in every athlete's potential in the RIVA family.

A former Riversdale Sprints and Jumps athlete herself of the 1960’s era, RossAnn returned to the club in 2000. She quickly became a driving force in its growth and success starting as a middle distance assistant coach, before stepping into the lead middle distance coach on a shared leadership team. From there she assumed RIVA’s Head Coach role and hasn’t looked back. Throughout her coaching career, she has guided athletes from their first steps in the sport to provincial, national, and international competition. Her experience and contributions to high performance sport across Saskatchewan include her coaching with the University of Saskatchewan, serving as a Canada Summer Games coach, coaching a Youth Olympian, alongside numerous national and international coaching accolades from her background in Triathlon. In triathlon she has also served as head coach for Triathlon World University Games and Assistant Coach with Pan American triathlon championships.

While her athletes earned countless personal bests, championships, and national medals, RossAnn has always measured success by something greater: helping young people develop confidence, resilience, leadership, and character.

RossAnn has been the heart of Riversdale Athletics for many years and her passion for the sport, commitment to our athletes, and ability to build a welcoming and supportive community have made an immeasurable impact. Her influence extends far beyond medals and podium finishes.

Under her leadership, Riversdale Athletics Club strengthened its reputation as one of Saskatchewan's premier track and field clubs, fostering an environment where athletes of all ages and abilities could thrive and belong to the RIVA family and community. Her emphasis on technical excellence, sportsmanship, and athlete well-being helped create a culture that will continue to define the club for years to come.

Although stepping away from her role as Head Coach, RossAnn will continue to mentor over the next year to transition her legacy and expertise to the next generation. Both in leadership, operations, and coaching. Her dedication has helped establish a lasting foundation for future generations of Riversdale athletes.

On behalf of everyone connected to Riversdale Athletics Club, thank you, RossAnn. Thank-you for your exceptional leadership, your compassion, and your lifelong commitment to the sport of athletics. Your legacy will continue to inspire every stride, jump, and throw for years to come.

To celebrate her outstanding career and contributions to athletics, Riversdale Athletics Club encourages alumni, athletes, parents, friends, and family to share their memories and appreciation on our social media page to thank to RossAnn for her years of service.
